Abstract (English) The Waste Manager in the Canary Islands coordinates collection, transport, treatment, and recovery of urban, industrial, and hazardous waste, ensuring compliance with regional and EU regulations. Training hinges on the SEAG0108 Professional Certificate “Urban and Industrial Waste Management” (270 h) offered by the Canary Islands Government and complemented by online ISO 14001/EMAS courses. Career paths span municipalities, concession firms, and environmental consultancies, with demand rising alongside insular circular economy plans and recycling targets for 2035.   Abstract (English) In the ecologically sensitive Canary Islands, the Ecoparques Norte (Salto del Negro) and Sur (Juan Grande) in Gran Canaria are strategic hubs for urban, industrial, and bulky waste collection and treatment. These facilities process nearly 400,000 t of waste annually, convert organic fractions into biogas (up to 5 million m³/year) for power generation, and produce over 1,000 t of high-quality compost. Open to the public with extensive hours and equipped with selection plants, anaerobic digesters and composting reactors, they also host guided tours, environmental classrooms and a “Senda Ambiental” trail, fostering circular-economy innovation.
